Simple Instructions On How To Avoid being Ripped Off By The New Flogs.

With blogging becoming more popular everyday we now see many marketers using it for advertising and sales. It is becoming a common experience to see fake blogs or Flogs as we refer to them.

Some are now calling these blogs, Splogs (or spam blogs), rather than Flogs. It does not matter what you call them they are scam sites, and are promoting fraudulent services and recurring billing as their primary products.

Many of these are using the fake newsprint themes and some are using fake review site formats. The common thread is that they’re all promoting get-rich-quick scams, implying Google, Twitter, or some other social media network, are somehow involved.

As a rule 99% of any fake blog site which is promoting a so-called free CD that involves only sending the shipping cost with a debit or credit card, can be, and probably is, promoting a scam. Here are some rules to follow:

  • First always search for the TOS and T&C. These are Terms of Service and Terms & Conditions.
  • Read these very carefully and you should copy them to a text file or print them out and read them.
  • Look for any recurring billing, or memberships that are mentioned.
  • Often times these are well hidden and some times they are not even mentioned at all (which is fraud), another good reason to copy and save the Terms.
  • Many of these sites will be signing you up with 2-3 memberships, totaling as much as $195 or more monthly costs to your credit service.
  • The splash page (sales page) that you are directed to often has a ticker that tries to fast sell you so that you do not attempt to read the T&C. Do not fall for this. Always read the fine print.
  • Remember that if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

These fraudsters operate internationally and do not care where you are from; all peoples are their potential victims, and nearly 80% of the victims also have reported that they never received a CD and that they were billed for 2-3 other memberships’ while waiting for the CD to arrive.

  • If you have already purchased a CD, you need to immediately contact your banking institution and Credit Card Company to start a chargeback process.  You have to be adamant and resolute in doing this and make sure that they understand that you are a victim of fraud.
  • You need to report the entire purchase and scam to the FTC, BBB, your local AG, and the AG in the state that the scam is originating from. Your lending institution has the addresses and sometimes the forms for doing this. It can also be done online.
