How Can Getting Scammed Be A Good Thing?

I would like to share a story with you. A not so uncommon story, about one particular gal that was taken in by not only the Google home income scams, but many of the make money online scams that have been online for what seems like an eternity.
Jill Taylor started in the spring of 2008 trying to find a way to earn more income. She was working hard at her day job in the construction industry, but as so many of her fellow workers began to be laid off she realized that her job was precarious to say the least.
That is when she made the plunge and began to seriously look on the Internet for a way to bolster her income and maybe even replace it over time. What she found was alarming. There were so many offers and so many systems out there already that seemed to fit her desires and needs. It was difficult to choose and decide between them.
When she finally responded to one offer her email box suddenly filled up with multiple offers and spam. Some of it was even porno. This was crazy. The first offer came from what seemed to be a reputable source and cost only $3.88 to begin. What she did not realize, or read, was hidden on the second page of the sign-up form in small print.
After the first 7 days her credit card was billed an additional $72.21, and then after 14 days she had two additional charges on her card for $14.95, and $9.97. These charges were for two memberships to programs that she did not want or have any use for.
Like so many other victims of these scams she tried to cancel and was told that she had signed a contract. She immediately contacted her bank, told them what was happening and asked if she should cancel her card to stop any further charges.
Jill was lucky. Her bank was very helpful. They allowed her to fill out a form and initiate a charge-back. This also stopped any further charges against her card and returned the funds to her account.
Jill was determined to find out if there was really a way to earn an income from the Internet and spent several months reading and searching all kinds of programs and purchased a few eBooks about earning money online.
Most of the eBooks were all very similar in content and really did not tell her very much. They all had links to more sites and programs, recommending purchasing these additional programs, and eBooks. It all seemed to be one big runaround. No one was giving out any solid information.
She tried following a few of the programs about affiliate marketing that explained how to place free ads on Craigslist and products she found on ClickBank. After one month of this, she gave up and purchased a program for $495.99, in hopes that this would give her the answers.
To her dismay, the program was all about AdWords, and involved further investments of hundreds of dollars. She was not about to give up and followed the program carefully, spending more of her savings.
The AdWords system worked, but after 3 weeks she had spent more than she had made and her costs for the keyword bids went up drastically. She was forced to quit. It did not make sense to pay $100.00 to make only $32.00. She knew that it was possible to succeed at this but the amount of time and money was more than she could afford or commit to.
Jill was not about to give up and decided that the best advice that she had found so far was from 3 separate sources, but with a common denominator. These sources all agreed on one thing, to build a series of blogs, websites, or both, and get established on the Internet.
The 3 sources that she used were BloggingtotheBank3.0, TheMinisiteformula, and Chris Farrell’s HowtoBuildaWebsitein36Hours. She used parts from all three of their systems and advice.
After 2 months her sites were all bringing a small amount of earnings from AdSense and affiliate products. It was not nearly the amount that the other offers she had tried claimed was possible to earn, but it was a start. And every week her earnings were better. She was suddenly seeing some returns for her time and investment.
Jill had 10 sites set up after 3 months and plans to have 30 sites in 6 months time. This is how she finally beat the systems and took control of her online endeavors and experiences.
Jill asked me to include that she does not consider her experiences with the scams in a completely negative light, because they taught her valuable lessons about people and the Internet, her best advice, “Don’t give up!”
Remember these 3 rules for online success:
1. Know or understand how to get your own blog, or website setup
2. Know how to implement compelling copy onto your site
3. And know how to get targeted traffic to your site
