Keyword Saturation and Niche Saturation are Myths
It is true that niche saturation and keyword saturation are myths, and to make money online you should understand why?
Keyword saturation is a myth because there are so many keywords used for searches that are overlooked and not used. Niche saturation is a myth because there are so many places and so many ways to find micro niche markets, niches within niches that are overlooked and not utilized by mainstream affiliate marketers.
Niche marketing is a very important aspect of affiliate marketing and Internet marketing, and it is where so many new marketers fail.
Some call niches within niches, sub niches, but most Internet marketers refer to these types of niches as micro niches.
Micro niches are simply taking a segment or a small part of a broader or general niche, topic, product, or marketplace, and focusing on it. An example that we have used is the tattoo niche.
Tattoos are a broad niche within the general niche of body art and body adornment, and specific types of tattoos are micro niches. The more specific and specialized a micro niche is will usually mean the audience, customer base, and interest group will be smaller, and more targeted. It will also mean that the traffic that it receives will be smaller and more targeted.
- General Niche: Body adornment
- Broad Niche: Tattoos
- Niche or Micro Niche: Ankle tattoos
- Micro Niche: Chinese ankle tattoos
- Micro Niche: Female Chinese ankle tattoos
- Micro Niche: Girl’s Chinese dragon ankle tattoos
Having a smaller audience can be good when the audience is primarily made up of buyers, people that are ready to make a purchase rather than sightseers and information seekers.
Niche saturation is a myth when you consider how many micro niche markets are available for affiliate marketing. It is obvious that there are multiple niche markets available to enter and exploit to your advantage.
To make money online with micro niches you need to find a profitable micro niche, get traffic to it, and capitalize on that traffic.
First, you have to make sure that there are enough people searching for the micro niche that you want to enter. This can be done using search engines, and Google is the most popular, so it is often the best choice for doing your research.
You can check your micro niche popularity by using standard searches and in-depth searches, and we have covered how to do these in previous posts. Your investigation should include both popularity of searches and finding out how much competition there is already online for the keywords that will direct people to your micro niche.
You can find out how many articles have been written about your particular niche target, and if the articles contain the keywords that you have chosen to use for your micro niche. These are the keywords that you have already found by using keyword tools, either free ones or paid tools, it is entirely up to you.
A tremendous amount of articles can mean niche saturation and that it might be too competitive, but it can also mean that it is a popular niche market, and there is money to be made. Many popular micro niche markets have plenty of room for more affiliate marketers, especially if there are many keywords that are not being used by the competition.
Keyword saturation is a myth because there are so many keywords that are not being used.
Picking the right keywords will be one of the most important steps in your micro niche marketing process. The keywords that you choose to target will play a very important role in determining if you will make money online or not.
Pick keywords that have less search results but enough to guarantee targeted traffic.
Try to focus on keywords that have traffic but less search results. The amount of traffic to target varies from one niche to another and from one affiliate marketer to another, but you need traffic, so the bare minimum should be 300 searches and the maximum can be set at 900, 10,000 or 30,000. It all depends on how big your competition is, and how confident you feel.
If you are writing ads then your keywords need to be placed within your ads. If you are writing articles or posts then you need to place your keywords within the content and the titles. We have covered this in prior posts, and will continue to expound upon it in future posts.
Keyword saturation and niche saturation are myths, and if you really want to succeed in affiliate marketing then you can turn these myths into profitable ways to make money online.
Do your research and make sure that you have a micro niche market that contains buyers that you can reach. These are buyers that are being swallowed up by a competition that is targeting broad and general niche topics and audiences. You can claim these buyers for your own by using the specific keywords that they are interested in instead of keywords that are too general.
I hope that this helps you to see that keyword saturation and niche saturation are myths and that there are plenty of micro niche markets still available for you to make money online.
Affiliate marketing can be fun and a profitable way to make money online.
There are so many ways to market affiliate products and micro niche marketing is one of the best approaches for anyone. Niche saturation and keyword saturation may be happening in the general and broad niche topics but not in the micro niche markets.

Thanks for the comment. You have commented before. If you have a link that you want to share with everyone please include it.
I like your post but aren’t there more of a breakup of nishe markets than you have noted. It seems as if you are simplifiying it for the readers and that there is a lot missing?
Hi,
This article is about the fact that keyword saturation and niche saturation are myths, and are not true.
There is a lot to research to locate profitable micro niche markets, and this is simplified, but it is not so difficult to figure out.
We chose the tattoo niche for example purposes only, and that may, or may not be, lucrative.
It is up to you to do the research and find out whether a niche is profitable to enter, and to determine whether a niche is worth pursuing or not.
The key is in the research and the “keyword choices” that you discover or uncover, and then how you get traffic to them. If you have done your research correctly then traffic should come your way without any monetary cost, i.e. organically, but that can also depend upon the competition within the micro niche and the keywords that you are targeting too.
If there is a lot of competition then you are either using too popular of searches and keywords, or keyword phrases, or you are in a niche that is so saturated that even the least popular searched keywords are being used in AdWords campaigns, articles, and website content. If this is the case I would suggest that you rethink and reevaluate your approach, or put this aside for now and try another niche market.
I have found that if you are content with a small amount of traffic for the initial start-up, then you can always return after your site has aged a few weeks or months, and expound upon your material. This is if you are using websites or blog sites for targeting your chosen micro niche market.
If you are using AdWords or some other paid advertising then I would change your campaign tactics and try some other keyword combinations or put your campaigns on hold and try another micro niche market on your list. This goes for free ads too, but not as much so.
Free ads have a lot more flexibility, and on some sites if you purchase a membership you can keep your ad position without having to go back every few days and refresh your ad, or create a new ad. But many free ad sites have less traffic too, so this is something that you should watch for as well. Like anything, whatever approach or combination of advertising approaches that you are using have to be tracked and fine-tuned, so you receive the best response for your efforts.
Tracking the results of your efforts are key to minor success, mediocre success, or great success. If you are only interested in a residual income to supplement your other incomes then this type of advertising is not for you unless you have a lot of time on your hands and do not really care about how much you are making in profit. If you are really in need of making income from advertising then it is an absolute must that you keep track of your results and the more specific the tracking records that you keep the better off you will be and the better your information will be. This will better prepare you for paid advertising like AdWords, if, and when, you ever decide to advertise and compete in PPC types of advertising.
There really is not a lot missing since this article is not trying to address everything involved in micro niche marketing, and micro niche marketing can be accomplished in many ways and forms. It is only limited by your resources, your time, and your efforts. Using free ad sites can help you to learn about advertising and is a way to get more exposure to products, and your websites. It can also be a good way to get your sites indexed quickly.
No one has to use free ad sites. In fact some micro niche marketers never use ad sites. Instead they rely upon organic traffic to their blogs or websites due to the efforts that they have used to build the content on the sites. This is all done with keyword research, keyword placement , and with keyword optimization; all very important aspects of Internet marketing.
Other marketers (affiliate marketers) rely upon article submissions, or on sites that are only review sites, with only a few pages of content.
Article submissions can also serve as free advertising and generate free traffic, or indexing a site. It is all dependent upon your purposes, and your needs, which form of Internet marketing and advertising you choose to pursue. I always say don’t put all of your efforts in one place, even if it is working. Mix it up, because your best efforts and your best results can change dramatically within a few days or months due to changes that you have no control over, so if you have some other sources of traffic developed then your entire efforts won’t disappear with the unforeseen changes that can happen from Search Engine changes in their algorithms, or being listed as a spam site or a site that is only commercial for its sole purpose.
There are many reasons that a site can be penalized and sometimes it is penalized for no apparent reason, or unwarranted reasons. This is why it is best to have some authority, and the more authority backlinks that you have directed to your site the better.
I hope that this has helped. I should have written an entire new post to address this question.
Thanks for the comment. We appreciate the interaction with our readers.
Thank you for the fast answer. i am new to this and any info that you give me will help. i am tired of paying for bad info and you dont make it sound so easy and other sites do. I will try this when i have more time to research.
Hi again,
The point is it can be easy if you find the right micro niche and use the correct tactics for traffic and advertising. The tactics need to be recorded and tracked so that you know what is working and what is not.
The key is to not give up from a few failures or limited success.
Take what you learn from your trials and go on to another approach or a new niche market. It takes determination and control over what works and what does not work to succeed.
Your chosen micro niche may be the right one but your tactics may not be effective or may be too generalized. Or, you may be targeting the wrong audience. Always remember that you need an audience comprised or buyers not free information seekers, or the mildly curious crowd. They need to be window shoppers that have buyers sprinkled in, instead of the curious, or the free information seekers that only want to learn and never want any real product from you.
If you are marketing curling irons then you need to be specific about the type of hair you are targeting and the type of curling iron that you are marketing. You can add a few choices into the mix, but your focus should be on one particular brand and model, not curling irons in general, unless your site is an information site. If you are marketing curling irons then break them down into specific searches and words that are being searched for by real people that are searching. Use the same tactics that I have outlined in the post and in the comments.
You may say that you will try this later but there is no time better than the present. If you have to set aside a block of time per day or per week and get started. It only takes that commitment to begin. And stick to it. You may find that you like it or you may find that this is not for you. You will never know until you try it out thoroughly and with some conviction.
And the right niche market never hurts either. Some get lucky and find a lucrative niche right away and everything falls into place. But most of us have to develop our research skills, then apply elements of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to get the buyers to read our ads, or to visit our site, or to click on our affiliate links.
This could have been a very good post and instead it is a comment, or rather two comments.
Thanks again, for commenting and asking questions. We need more intercourse with our readers and more specific questions. There have been a lot of requests for a forum but we have not put one in place due to the amount of time necessary to moderate it. It may happen sometime in the future.
I’m finding a lot of useful information on your website. Especially about micro niche marketing and keyword saturation. It seems as though I may Not be doing it 100% correct. I will change up my keywords on my website and try to add more content. My site is young and has nowhere near the number of pages as yours, but I’m trying to add pages and content every day. Thanks for all the tips and helpful information. Maybe this will help my rankings and get me some more traffic in the next few weeks or months. Have a great day.
Hi Preston,
Thank you for the comment and we update as often as we can so if some to the links are no longer working please let us know so we can change them or remove them.
